So, this is one of the new outfits!! I have fancy pants :-) And...I have a story!! I left work early today, all excited to go to my local bike shop and get me some new fancy pants. Obviously, I have no idea what I'm doing...I'm overweight and out of shape. I did my internet research and thought I knew exactly what I was looking for, but realized quickly when I got in the store that I had no clue. I was, however, able to discern which section was female vs. male...1 point for Joanna!! I looked around for someone to help me and there wasn't anyone except the male types at the counter and bike repair area. Feeling a bit vulnerable, I went to one of the dudes and asked if he could help me when he was finished with the lady he was with. In a VERY condescending tone he said, "I have other cutomers." I looked around and NO HE DID NOT!! But, being in my vulnerable "Pretty-Woman-on-Rodeo Drive" state, I just left the store. THANKS FOR MAKING ME FEEL MORE OVERWIEGHT AND MORE OUT OF SHAPE!!!! He IS the Pansie-Bottom Jerk-Boy!! Kevin has asked me to tone down the language now that I've been able to vent privately...teeheehee :-) I called the store and got that guy's name, and tomorrow I'm calling back to report him.
So, Kevin and I went to Academy (my new bike shop) and they were VERY helpful! I should go back to the other shop with my new fancy pants and say the classic line, "Remember me, the one you wouldn't help yesterday? Big mistake. Big. Huge!" The lady who checked me out said it was "refreshing" to see people getting outside more.
So...the ride:
Conditions: clear skies, 55 degrees, wind at 3 mph, rode at dusk
I went 5 miles tonight, and had a couple of moments where I thought I was going to die. BUT my fancy pants saved me :-) I can't tell you the difference in wearing regular sports shorts and a tee vs. fancy pants and shirt. I love it!! Very smooth and glide-y. I went the way of more downhill than uphill, and the goal is to reverse the path and have more uphill than downhill by next week.
Also, I learned today from the Dietician at work that if I eat "good carbs" within 20-30 minutes after the ride that the way the body converts that into energy will help with my muscles not being so achey afterward. I was afraid I would hurl, but I ate an apple and seems to have stayed down. Now lets see if it helped the muscles. Also, we'll have to wait until morning to see if the fancy pants helped my butt not hurt so much. Quite a dramatic day in the biking world. Glad I can rest now...CSI marathon is on!! WOOHOO!!! Couch time is here!!!
